Pâte de verre
DESCRIPTION
By Aurélie Wellenstein and Olivier Léonard, translated by Steve and Karen Linn
Pate de verre is the process of taking cold glass that has been crushed or ground into a powder - sometimes converted to a paste with binders - and placing it in refractory molds to be fired at approximately 800° C.
The pulverized glass mixed with binding agents can be applied directly into open molds with a brush, similar to the process of stamping.
But in the video, we will show you the process of crushed glass placed in a lost wax mold, as well as in a container hanging over it, and flow during firing into the prepared space.
